2013 International Summit of the Book took place in the National Library Board in Singapore Aug. 16, 2013. The 2nd International Summit of the Book brought about an insightful debate on the evolving concept of the book from an Asian perspective. Professor Tommy Koh, Singapore’s ambassador-at-large and former ambassador to the United Nations, has served as chairman of the organizing committee of the 2013 Summit. The Singapore conference has been themed “A Book By Any Other Name,” keyed to the well-known phrase about a rose from Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” The Singapore summit has brought together leaders in academia, libraries, culture and technology.
