BA/CSSP Research Grants 2014

In response to the BA/CSSP 2014 Research Grants announcement made by the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), 116 proposals were submitted in Agricultural Sciences, Biology & Biotechnology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Engineering Sciences & Technology, Earth Sciences, Information Technology & Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Medical Sciences Physics & Biophysics, and Pre-University Education.

A blind online review process was used to evaluate each proposal. The Reviewing Committee currently comprises 128 international eminent scientist and Nobel Laureates representing all areas of research. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations; eighteen candidates were selected to attend the BA/CSSP Research Grants 2014 Top Listed Interviews on the 2nd and the 9th  April 2015 to be interrogated by high caliber scientific committee.

The top listed candidates in the medical field were interviewed by Prof. Yehia Halim Zaki, Advisor, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Heba Kassem, Assistant Professor of Medical Genetics and Director of Clinical Genomics Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, Dr. Mohammed Gomaa, Medical Director, Clinical Trial and Pharmacovigilance Center, Egyptian Liver Research Institute And Hospital “ELRIAH” Sherbeen – Almansoura – Egypt.

The top listed candidates in the field of Agriculture and Engineering were interviewed by Prof. Yousry El-Gamal, Member of CSSP Board of Directors, and Former Minister of Education, Prof. Salah Soliman, Professor of Pesticide Chemistry and Toxicology; and Advisor for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as well as Prof. Hisham Gaber, Director of the Center for Environmental Studies, Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

 

Accordingly, four winners were selected for the BA/CSSP Research Grants 2014.

Rasha Zakaria Batran

Research Title: New pyranopyrimidines as neuropeptide S receptor antagonists; design, synthesis and molecular modeling.
