Micro Research Grants 2010/2011

Today's students are tomorrow's leaders. knowing that, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, as a center of excellence for the production and dissemination of knowledge, aims to encourage young people to interact within their communities and solve the problems they encounter. In response to the BA/CSSP Micro Research Grants announcement made on 11 March 2010 during the Science and Engineering Fair (Intel BASEF), organized by the Planetarium Science Center, five proposals were submitted in Chemistry, Engineering Sciences & Technology and Medical Sciences.

The Reviewing Committee evaluated the submitted proposals in terms of the originality and inventiveness of the idea, process, or technology. The Reviewing Committee currently comprised the Library of Alexandria Consultants in different fields. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, two teams were selected to attend the Micro Research Grants Interviews on 9 June 2011.

The top listed candidates were interviewed by a high caliber scientific committee. The Committee members were Dr. Mohamed El-Faham, Director of the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) and Dr. Salah Soliman, BA Consultant. The two teams were selected as the BA/CSSP Micro Research Grants winners for the year 2011.

Contract Signing

On the 29 September 2011, Dr. Mohamed El-Faham, Director of the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP) signed the contracts with the winning teams.
