The CSSP organized an intensive two-week workshop on scientific writing and editing. It focused on introducing the craft of science communication with the bulk of emphasis on practical exercises in writing and editing different types of material (press releases, essays and scientific manuscripts).
The workshop was attended by 10 participants, representing different departments at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) as a part of the internal training system within the BA.
Ehsan Masood, the workshop's instructor, is a writer and a journalist in the United Kingdom. He also teaches international science policy at Imperial College, London.
He writes on science and environment in developing countries and is a consulting editor with the journal Nature as well as a a columnist with the online magazine OpenDemocracy.Net. He frequently appears on BBC Radio and his books include: Dry: Life Without Water (with Daniel Schaffer, Harvard University Press, 2006) and Science and Islam: a History (Icon Books, 2009).
Ehsan is a member of the Board of Directors of Leadership for Environment and Development and has worked as a consultant to a number of organizations. These include: The British Council, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.
