Egypt is one of the most water stressed regions in the whole world, and climate change will lead to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as droughts and floods, as well as decrease precipitation, will contribute to even worse water scarcity not only on the fresh water quantity but also the quality of groundwater might be worsened, as fresh water supplies might get contaminated by sea water intruding coastal aquifers.

During this workshop, the history of water resources and it's management in Egypt is explained to the attendees, giving them insight about the water budget and allocation to different sectors, emphasizing the wise-consumption and treatment technologies as one of the solutions toward water poverty in Egypt.
