Alexandria— At the 40th Cairo International Book Fair, inaugurated by President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, on Wednesday, 23 January 2008, and participated by 28 countries, the BA presents its latest digital projects “Digital Assets Repository (DAR)”. DAR is developed by the BA International School of Information Science (ISIS), to create and maintain the digital library collections. DAR presents a collection of digitized books covering different fields of knowledge. Forty nine thousand books have been digitized and are accessible through the BA Website, of which 43 thousand are in Arabic. DAR presents an outstanding service for students, researchers and academia, where visitors of DAR website from inside the Library can browse the full text of a certain book, while users from outside can browse 5 % only of the book.

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, stated that DAR acts as a repository for all types of digital material and provides public access to the digitized collections through web-based search and browsing facilities.
