The Angolan Ambassador Visits the BA and Praises its Global Cultural Role

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina welcomed H.E. Maquento Sebastião Lopes, Ambassador of Angola to Cairo, accompanied by a high-level delegation, on a visit aimed at learning about the leading role played by the Library as a beacon of thought and culture in Egypt and the Arab world.

Ms. Heba El-Rafey, Acting Head of the External Relations and Media Sector, welcomed H.E. the Ambassador on behalf of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. El-Rafey accompanied the Ambassador and his delegation on an extended tour of the Library’s halls, including the Main Reading Area, where he was introduced to the latest digital and technological projects, as well as the diverse knowledge resources the Library provides to serve researchers and interested individuals from around the world.

The tour also included visits to the Culturama Hall and a number of museums and exhibitions inside the Library.

At the end of the visit, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina presented H.E. the Ambassador with two copies of its distinguished publications: the books The Antiquities Museum and Not Just a Library.

The Angolan Ambassador expressed his deep admiration for the Library’s treasures of knowledge and heritage, praising its role as an international center for enlightenment and creativity, noting that it represents an important platform for promoting dialogue and communication among different cultures.
