The BA Information Institutions and Professional Skills Department is taking part in the 10th edition of the International Francophone Summer School for Library and Information Science, which is set to take place in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, from 3 to 9 May 2026.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is taking part in this event for the fourth consecutive year. This annual event is held in collaboration with the Association internationale francophone des bibliothécaires et documentalistes (AIFBD), and brings together a select group of academics, researchers, and professionals to exchange experiences, review the latest developments in library and information science, and discuss innovative solutions to global challenges.
This round is organized in collaboration with the École de bibliothécaires, archivistes et documentalistes (EBAD) at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, against a global backdrop marked by an unprecedented flow of information and the corresponding challenges faced by developing countries, such as limited resources, weak digital infrastructure, and widening knowledge gaps.
The return of the summer school to Dakar, which hosted the event in 2016 and 2021, marks the tenth anniversary of its launch. The significance of this event extends beyond being a scientific gathering; it serves as a practical platform for developing tools that allow professionals to transform challenges into real opportunities for knowledge growth.
