“Alexandria between History and Urban Development” in a Seminar at the BA

The BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), in collaboration with the History and Archeology Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture, is organizing a seminar titled “Alexandria between History and Urban Development.” The seminar will take place on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at 1:00 pm, in the Delegates Hall of the BA Conference Center.
The seminar will be led by Prof. Hassan Selim, Professor of Ancient Egyptian Antiquities at the Faculty of Archeology – Ain Shams University, and a committee member. It will be inaugurated by Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, Acting Head of the BA Academic Research Sector, and Prof. Rania Moustafa Abdel Wahed, Professor of Egyptian Antiquities at the Faculty of Arts – Alexandria University, and a committee member.
The event includes a lecture titled “From Raquda to Alexandria... Journey in the Memory of Time,” presented by Prof. Hassan Mohamed Mohi El-Din El-Saady, Professor of the History and Civilization of Egypt and the Ancient Near East at the Faculty of Arts – Alexandria University.
This lecture will be followed by another lecture titled “Under the Sky of Alexandria: Architecture and Memory," presented by Dr. Mohamed Adel Dessouki, Head of the Architecture Design Department at the College of Engineering and Technology – Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, El Alamein Branch.
The event will also include a presentation of the “Digitization of Alexandrian Heritage” project, prepared by students from the Faculty of Language and Media at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, within the framework of using digital tools to document and promote Alexandrian heritage.
The seminar highlights the interest in the history of Alexandria and its architectural heritage, drawing attention to the city's development through the ages.
