Serageldin to Receive Honorary PhD from the American University in Beirut

Dr. Ismail Sergeldin, Director of the BA, will be awarded an honorary PhD in literature from the American University in Beirut during the university’s 164th graduation ceremony, which will be held on Friday, 29 May 2015.
This year, the university will honor both Dr. Ismail Serageldin and Director Peter Sellars in appreciation of their achievements.
Peter Dorman, President of the American University in Beirut, expressed his admiration for Dr. Serageldin’s local and international achievements in many fields. Over the course of his career, in which he occupied many prestigious posts, Dr. Serageldin has always been a strong advocate of preserving the arts and creating a more equal, humane, and creative society. Moreover, he had a huge effect on the world around him through his various writings on architecture, literature, political reform, environmental sustainability, and other topics. This is in addition to his belief in the importance of holding on to morals.
