Serageldin Elected as Board Member of Science and Technology in Society Forum (STS) in Japan

Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, has been official notified of his election as Board Member of the STS Forum for a two-year term as of 1 January 2016.

Established in 2004, the STS aims to build a human network, of a very broad a range of participants and organizations to resolve the new problems resulting from the application of science and technology.

The STS annual meeting is held on the first Sunday of October every year in Kyoto, Japan, and gathers top policymakers, business leaders, scientists, researchers, media leaders, and Nobel laureates from all over the world to address science and technology issues in the 21st century.

Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, is the Honorary Chairman of the STS Board of Directors. Serageldin was one of the forty founding members of the STS and has been a major contributor at each of the annual meetings.
