The BA Organizes Two Workshops on Intellectual Property Rights

Alexandria—The BA, in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World, Arab Regional Office (TWAS-ARO), and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), organizes two workshops entitled “Intellectual Property and Development”, on 27 and 28 September 2009, and “Copyright Protection in the Digital Age” from 29 September to 1 October 2009.

Lecturers are specialists in Intellectual Property from Egypt and the Arab World, in addition to representatives of International organizations. Participants in the workshop range from academia, legal specialists, researchers in health and development, information technology engineers, librarians, in addition to anyone interested in intellectual property.

The first workshop aims to give basic information about intellectual property, focusing on the latest topics on access to health and medicine in relation to intellectual property rights. The second workshop focuses on copyright issues and the new tools to access and disseminate knowledge in the Arab countries.

The two workshops emphasis on discussions and practical practices by referring to specific case studies that went to court.
