The BA Launches the “Relationships between the Arab Mashreq and Maghreb” Conference

Dr. Moustafa El-Feki, Director of the Library of Alexandria, together with Dr. Abdellatif Obid, Director of the Arab League Center in Tunisia, inaugurated the “Relationships between the Arab Mashreq and Maghreb … Past, Present and Future: Visions in Rewriting History” conference. The conference takes place on 24 and 25 September 2018 in the BA, with more than thirty Arab researchers participating from Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Dr. El-Feki was pleased that the BA hosted this gathering of Arab thinkers, intellectuals and literary writers, and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange between the Arab Mashreq and Maghreb. Moreover, Dr. Obid, in his speech, expressed his delight that this conference was hosted by the BA, and stressed the importance of the city of Alexandria in supporting the dialogue between the Arab Mashreq and Maghreb. He also noted that the Arab League Center in Tunisia is an integral part of the Arab League, and aims to support its great and noble cause, on top of which is the achievement of solidarity and cooperation between Arab countries.
It is worth mentioning that this conference aims to re-focus on the issue of the relationships between the Arab Mashreq and Maghreb, which was obscured during the last decade. In this respect, the organizers of the conference see that the first step to revive this vital issue is to build a historical awareness of the depth of Arab relations that transcend all existing differences and conflicts.
