The BA Launches the Alexandria International Book Fair on 25 March 2019

The BA launches the Alexandria International Book Fair, which takes place from 25 March to 7 April 2019, with the cooperation of the General Egyptian Book Organization and the Egyptian Publishers Association.

Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, announced that the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, chaired by Dr. Faissal Al-Hafian, is this year's guest of honor, in recognition of its effective role in reviving and disseminating Arabic heritage. He also added that the Book Fair hosts 50 Egyptian and Arab publishers, and includes special pavilions for Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Syria, and Palestine.

The Book Fair will also host several pavilions from Arab and governmental entities such as the Ministry of Antiquities, the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, the National Council for Mental Health, the National Center for Translation, the Consulate of Palestine and the Azbekeya Book Market.

Additionally, Dr. Elfeki highlighted the several cultural activities that will take place as part of this year's Book Fair, which is considered a cultural festival for intellectuals from Alexandria and the whole world, stating that many intellectuals and researchers from Jordan, Syria, the UAE, Tunisia, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will participate in these events. He also stressed that many award-winning creative figures from Alexandria will be present their work at this year's cultural exhibition.

These cultural activities will address several topics such as children, women, youth, technology and arts. Moreover, the Book Fair will host the young stars of social media, and will dedicate a number of interviews and seminars to the role of women, in celebration of the International Women’s Day.

The Fair also features 14 workshops for children, with the aim of teaching them storytelling, drawing and sketching, in addition to free literary workshops in storytelling, script writing, media and criticism.
