The Greek Minister of Culture: “Egypt is the Center of the World Culture, and the Greek Civilization is a Continuation of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization”

Ms. Lina Mendoni, the Greek Minister of Culture, met Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the BA, and the delegation accompanying him as part of their recent visit to Athens to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Conference. Mr. Mohamed Farid Mounib, the Egyptian Ambassador to Greece, also participated in the meeting.

Ms. Mendoni said that Egypt is the center of the world culture, and added that the Greek civilization is a continuation of the ancient Egyptian civilization. She also congratulated the Egyptian people on the forthcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Moreover, Dr. Elfeki stressed the importance of Egypt close ties with Greece, and commended the Greek cultural institutions, especially the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, headed by Professor Constantinos Tsoukalas. He also referred to the upcoming celebration of the Greek poet, Constantine Cavafy in October 2019, which will be held in cooperation between the BA and the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
