Serageldin Receives Flame of Peace

Her excellency Herta Margaret Habsburg – Lothringen, representative of the Austrian International Organization Flame of Peace, will give the Flame of Peace 2013 Award to Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, in a ceremony held at the BA on Tuesday, 14 May 2013.
The ceremony will also witness the inauguration of the Flame of Peace Monument, an external symbol for peace. It is made of wood and mounted on stone. The wood is a symbol for bravery, power, strength, beauty and individuality; the stone is a symbol for durability and continuance.
The Flame of Peace Organization recognizes public personalities who seeks to strengthen peace and mutual relations between the peoples of the world.
On the occasion, Giulio Cesare In Egitto opera by G. F. Handel will be performed and featuring the BA Chamber Orchestra and the BA Choir, conducted by Ahmed El Saeidy.
