A press conference for the upcoming “Opera Carmen” was held on Sunday, 21 November 2021 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. This major performance is presented in its theatrical form for the first time in many decades to the Library’s audience, under the auspices of Dr. Moustafa Elfeki, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

The conference was attended by Conductor Nayer Nagui, Ms. Sabine Erlenwein, Director of the Goethe Institute in Alexandria, and Mr. Manuel Schmitt, Director of “Opera Carmen”, along with the show’s performers.

The show is set to take place in the BA Great Hall on Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 November 2021, in cooperation with the Goethe Institute.

This project aims at integrating an international cast of professional soloists in main roles with young Alexandrian opera students in secondary roles and choirs.

The show is conducted by Nayer Nagui, designed by Bernhard Siegl, and directed by Manuel Schmitt, with the participation of the BA Orchestra, Choir, and Children Choir.

It is worth mentioning that all the show’s set designs were implemented at the BA Arts Center.
