Visions of Egyptian Museums in the 21st Century
The BA Manuscripts Center and the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), in cooperation with the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, organize a seminar titled “Visions of Major Egyptian Museums in the 21st Century” on Thursday, 26 May 2022, at 12:00 pm, in the Museum’s Main Lecture Hall.
The seminar sheds light on the important role of major Egyptian museums in the preservation of local culture through meticulous documentation and the safeguarding of artifacts. It also tackles the contributions of the BA Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage in documenting tangible and intangible heritage, in addition to highlighting the role of museum displays in presenting the artifacts in a unique and enjoyable way for visitors. Furthermore, the seminar will discuss the challenges faced by museums in showcasing their artifacts in an engaging way, as well as attracting the largest possible number of visitors, especially tourists.
Participants in the seminar include Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, Chief Executive Officer of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization Authority; Dr. Al-Tayeb Abbas, Assistant Minister of Culture for the Affairs of the Grand Egyptian Museum; Dr. Osama Abdel Wareth, Chairman of the National Committee for Museums; Dr. Sayed Abul Fadl, Supervisor of the Archaeological Affairs at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization; Dr. Fatma Bakkar, Head of Documentation at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization; and Ms. Amira Seddiq, Project Manager at the BA Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage. The event will be moderated by Dr. Al-Hussein Abdel Bassir, Head of the BA Antiquities Museum Department.
