The BA Signs a Cooperation Agreement with Sharjah Institute for Heritage

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Dr. Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, signed a cooperation agreement between both entities.

Dr. Zayed expressed his delight at signing this agreement with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, stressing that there is a shared interest with the Institute in the collection of heritage, as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has set among its main objectives the documentation and preservation of heritage.

He also pointed out that discussing topics of heritage involves the concepts of pluralism and acceptance of the other, stating that the Arab-Islamic civilization has blended with multiple religions, philosophies and cultures.

For his part, Dr. Abdulaziz Almusallam expressed his delight at visiting the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, stressing that Egypt is the origin of cultural diversity, and that it has maintained longstanding cultural relations with the UAE.

Moreover, he emphasized that the cooperation agreement with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is only the beginning, and that there will be greater collaboration through publications and cultural programs.

It is worth mentioning that this agreement aims at enhancing cooperation and exchange of experiences between both parties in education, training and the preservation of cultural heritage. It also strives to strengthen further exchange with regard to scientific research, translation and co-publishing, as well as the development and implementation of joint projects in the field of cultural and natural heritage.
