The Audience and Theatrical Criticism at Sinnari House

The BA Sinnari House in Cairo is organizing an open seminar titled “The Audience and Theatrical Criticism”, on Wednesday, 23 August 2023, at 7:00 pm.
The seminar will be delivered by critic Mohsen Al-Merghani and Dr. Ahmed Amer, critic and lecturer at the Department of Theater Studies, Faculty of Arts, Helwan University, and will be moderated by writer and translator Mohamed Ramadan Hussein.
The seminar revolves around the book Essays on Criticism by Mohsen Al-Merghani. It aims to analyze the ideas and concepts presented in the book, outline its vision, style and importance and shed light on theatrical criticism between the past and present in light of the rapid developments and changes in today's world.
It is worth mentioning that Mohsen Al-Merghani is a writer and theater critic, and an assistant theater director at the Youth Theater, affiliated to the Theater House - Ministry of Culture. He holds a master's degree in drama and theater criticism (2018), a diploma in cultural development from the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University (2016), a postgraduate diploma in drama and theater criticism (2011), and a bachelor's degree in drama and theater criticism from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts - Academy of Arts (2009). He published the book Essays on Criticism - Readings and Ideas in 2020, as well as several critical studies in various magazines and newspapers.
