The BA Writing and Scripts Center and the Art Exhibitions and Collections Department are organizing an exhibition in celebration of Master Calligrapher Mahmoud Ibrahim Salama’s donation of calligraphic panels. The celebration will take place on Tuesday, 3 October 2023, at 12:00 pm, in the Hall of Fame, BA Main Entrance.

The BA received a donation from the family of the late master calligrapher Mr. Mahmoud Ibrahim Salama, which consists of a valuable collection of his 15 calligraphic masterpieces, ranging from Thuluth and Persian calligraphy to Naskh and Diwani. These calligraphic panels, in their various implementation methods, reflect the ability of this great artist to understand the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy and the secrets of composition and calligraphic structures.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a seminar that will witness the participation of a host of Arabic calligraphy masters.

It is worth mentioning that this donation will be added to the Library's holdings of Arabic calligraphy panels, which comprise the collection of Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim and Mr. Kamel Ibrahim, as well as Sheikh Mohamed Abdel Rahman and Mr. Khodeir Al-Portsaidy, together with several other masters and artists of Arabic calligraphy. These collections enhance the BA status of preserving the calligraphic heritage of Egyptian artists through the ages.

The exhibition will continue until Monday, 9 October 2023.
