The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has participated in the fourth international forum of the National Hangeul Museum in South Korea, which was held on 16 October 2026, coinciding with the twenty-fourth anniversary of the Library’s inauguration. The event was titled “Writing and Museums: From Documenting the Past to the Future of Heritage.”

BA Director Dr. Ahmed Zayed delivered a recorded speech stating that the memorandum of understanding signed between the National Hangeul Museum and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in 2023 marked a significant milestone in the journey of joint cultural work.

Dr. Zayed pointed out that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina plays a pioneering role in the academic study of heritage and in innovating modern means to document and make it accessible to future generations, especially in the age of Artificial Intelligence, where museums have transformed into living bridges to the future.

The Library also organized a workshop for writing audience names in hieroglyphs, using tools inspired by ancient Egyptian civilization.

The event included the screening of the documentary film Egyptian Papyrus: A Living Heritage, produced by the Library’s Studio Department in collaboration with the Writing and Scripts Center. The film addresses the stages of papyrus production in ancient Egypt and the revival of this heritage in modern times in the village of Al-Qaramous in Sharqia governorate.
