Alexandria International Symposium for Sculpture in Natural Materials - 7th Edition

Posted on

The BA has been holding an event for sculpture using natural materials every year since its establishment. This is to stress the value of sculpture in contemporary art. The Alexandria International Symposium for Sculpture in Natural Materials has become one of the art events that has shed light on the art of sculpture during the previous decade, specifically in Alexandria and in Egypt in general.

Many Egyptian and foreign artists as well as many volunteer art students have participated in the event in the past in a beautiful and creative atmosphere, where they were able to benefit from one another and interact with people from different cultural backgrounds.

This year, seven young Egyptian artists and three foreign experienced artists will take part in the 7th round of the Symposium to produce a unique piece of art in a relatively small size (30 x 30 x 60 cm) using Egyptian granite. Having to focus all of their creativity on such a small piece, should prove to be a challenge for the artists. The small size will also provide the BA with the chance to display these artworks in the BA conference and seminar halls.

A special exhibition for these works opened on Thursday 30 October in the West Exhibition Hall.
