General Guidelines

  • The book can be requested or reserved if it is borrowed by another member through the Circulation Desk. The member will be notified electronically when the book becomes available. Books are borrowed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Borrowed books must be handed over at the Circulation Desk (E level, Main Building) and members must make sure that they obtain their check-in receipt.
  • The Library sends electronic notifications for overdue books; the first notice is sent three days after the due date, while the second notice is sent five days after the first notice.
  • Members must pay the outstanding fines before borrowing other books.
  • In the event that the book is delayed and was not checked-in after the notifications, the user will not be able to access the Library services until the book is returned or its fees are payed.
  • The Library will also suspend the user’s membership until the book is delivered back and the fine is fully paid.
  • If the member does not respond to delay notices after a month, the book will be considered missing. Therefore, he/she must pay for the book in full.
  • If confirmed that the book is lost or damaged, the member will be fined the value of the book, in addition to 30% administrative expenses.
  • If a book is accidentally damaged, users must inform the Library immediately, and should not attempt to repair the damage in any way. Accordingly, qualified Library specialists will examine the book and treat it without causing any damage to it.
  • The Library reserves the right to suspend its circulation service or request the borrowed material at any time.

All books in the Library are available for circulation except the following:

  • References (encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases… etc.).
  • Periodicals (newspapers and scientific journals).
  • Audio-visual materials.
  • Predominantly illustrated monographs.
  • Theses.
