The BA Antiquities Museum organizes a lecture titled “Cultural and Educational Life in Light of Discovered Papyrus Texts in Al-Bahnasa During the Roman Period” on Tuesday, 14 August 2018 at 1:00 pm, F3 Floating Room, BA. The lecture is delivered by Dr. Eman Zaghloul, Advisor to Libraries to the Head of the Museums’ Sector, Ministry of Antiquities.

The research highlights women education and the social status of teachers in Al Bahnasa, which was called “Oxyrhynchus” during the Graeco-Roman period. The city is located approximately 20 km West of Beni Mazar in Minya Governorate, and is currently affiliated to Ezbet El-Shareef, the village of Sandafa. It is located about 400 km away from Alexandria. Culture in Oxyrhynchus was limited to the city’s elite community, which consisted of Romans, Greeks, Alexandrians, and Grecian Egyptians.
