Title in English: Greek Literature (HS015) Teaching Professor: Prof. Fouad El Sharkawi Course Description: Greek Literature This course aims at introducing students to Greek literature, with an emphasis on the different genres that developed during that period, the characteristics of each, and a close analysis of texts. The various forms of poetry will be studied, such as epic poetry, didactic poetry, and lyric poetry. Next, a detailed study of drama will be made, including the origins of tragedy and a study of the plays of Aeschulus, Sophocles and Euripides. The origins of comedy will also be studied, as well as the comedies of Aristophanes and Minandros. Finally, prose will also be covered in this course.
