EU Project - The Egyptian Handicrafts Festival
- 16 Sep 2015 - 18 Sep 2015
- | Bibliotheca Alexandrina
- | Festival
- | Open For Public
This event aims to support and map cultural industries in Egypt. Since it has become evident that many important cultural activities are beginning to be, or have already become, nonexistent due to various economic reasons, this event aims to benefit craftsmen from all over Egypt and help build synergies between them and other cultural operators and institutions. This endeavor will help bring the fading art of craftsmanship back to life. Saving those crafts will in turn help in boosting the economy by reviving this industry and reactivating it, turning it into a thriving national business.
In the event, various booths will be provided for craftsmen to show and sell their work. The festival will also include Egyptian, cultural, and folkloric shows performed by local artists and traditional, ethnic food and drinks produced and sold by local vendors.
