Teaching Professor: Prof. Hoda El Khouly.
This course aims at exploring how sciences from the ancient school of Alexandria moved to the Islamic world, and how the Arabs were connected to the sciences of Alexandria and to the translation movement. The student will be aware of the conditions that led to the rise of science and philosophy both in the Islamic world and in Alexandria, compare Islamic and Hellenistic thought, and analyze how and why the Hellenistic philosophy influenced Islamic philosophy.
