“East and West” in the Eighth International Summer Festival at the BA

Alexandria—The BA Arts Center organizes the Eighth International Summer Festival entitled “East and West”, from 1 to 31 July 2009. This year’s Festival features music performances, visual arts exhibitions and dance performances from Austria, Egypt, England, German, Italy, Iran, Scotland and Sweden.

Omar Khairat and the BA Orchestra, conducted by Sherif Mohie Eldin, will open the Festival on 1 July 2009 at 9:00 pm. The same day will also feature the launching of Alexandria Mosaic Symposium, Resident Artist - Fourth Meeting and First Time Exhibitions.

The Festival includes the BA Orchestra concerts and the SOS Music Festival “Friday through Friday”. In addition, the BA Music and Song Competition for Western Popular Styles (Fourth Edition) will also be held on the fringe lines of the Summer Festival.

Several films will also be screened celebrating the centennial of Director Hussien Fawzi and Actor Emad Hamdi. Theatrical play Qahwa Sada (Black Coffee) will also be performed during the Festival.
