The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has welcomed a delegation of “Miss Eco Egypt” contestants, who are representing 55 countries around the world, as part of the Library’s role as a global cultural hub and a platform for cultural exchange among peoples. The visit is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and the Governorate of Alexandria, as part of the national campaign to promote tourism and highlight Egyptian landmarks through tours covering several governorates across the country.

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, welcomed the delegation, stating that the Library serves as a beacon of cultural convergence and embodies Egypt’s mission of openness to the world and its keenness to promote intercultural dialogue.

The delegation was accompanied during the visit by Ms. Heba El-Rafey, Acting Head of the External Relations and Media Sector, and the tour included a visit to the Main Reading Area, as well as a number of the Library’s specialized museums and exhibitions.

The contestants also attended the Culturama show, which showcases Egypt’s history through the ages using the latest digital display technologies.

It is worth noting that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has become a major stop on the Miss Environment International pageant’s itinerary in recent years, in support of national efforts to strengthen Egypt’s position on the global tourism and cultural map.
