Memorandum of Understanding between the BA and Libraries Deanship, UAE University

Alexandria— the BA and the Libraries Deanship- United Arab Emirates University signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday, 29 January 2007 to promote cooperation in the field of library sciences, bibliography, and archives; developing the Arabic Union Catalog; organizing lectures, training, conferences and exhibitions; exchanging specialists of library sciences for the purpose of continuing professional development and workplace learning.
For the implementation of the agreement, the two parties agreed to develop a detailed cooperation program for three years. The agreement was signed by Dr. Hesam Mohammed Sultan Al-Ulama, Dean of the Libraries Deanship for the UAE University and Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Head of the Libraries Sector for the BA.
Dr. Hesam Mohammed Sultan Al-Ulama stated that the agreement reflects common Arab work and enhances the capacities of Arab libraries to face the international cultural challenges of the 21 century. He added that the universality of the BA and its success to combine between the spirit of the ancient library and the scientific and technological capacities of the new age encouraged the UAE University to sign the cooperation agreement. Dr. Sohair Wastawy stressed the importance of the Arabic Union Catalog amidst all the drawbacks in depending on the foreign techniques. She also explained the fruits and outcomes of such agreement for the two parties.
