The BA has published Said Salem’s book, Alexandria before the 25 January Revolution: A Deluge of Outstanding Creativity, in which he includes a critical analysis of cultural creativity in Alexandria in 2009 and 2010.

Dedicating an entire year to trace Alexandrian literary creativity in prose and poetry, Said Salem stressed that this surge in cultural creativity is characterized by three factors: most of the writers belonged to a younger generation, revealing this age group’s amazing talents and cultural awareness; the emergence of many female writers of all ages; and the emergence of first-time writers, joining the literary scene at sixty years of age and presenting notable writings.

Interestingly, most of these literary works have been discussed at the BA Narrative Review, which is supervised by writer Mounir Oteiba. The book also contains a selection of articles on works that have not been published in the same timeframe (2009–2010), included by the author for their literary and political significance and to involve the largest possible number of Alexandrian writers.
