International Day of Islamic Art Seminar at CULTNAT

The BA Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) at the Smart Village organized yesterday a seminar in celebration of the International Day of Islamic Art. The event was held in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Historical Studies and the Museum of Islamic Art, in the presence of public figures, specialized researchers and those interested in heritage.
The seminar highlighted the leading role of the Islamic world in the field of arts, especially in terms of artistic and decorative patterns and styles, which contributed to shaping the globally distinctive identity of Islamic art and influenced the design of astronomical tools and devices. The seminar also included a screening of the film Dendera at the Culturama Hall, a presentation of the contributions of Arab and Islamic civilization to astronomy and a tour of the "Knights of the Sky" hall, which is a specialized exhibition of the most significant Arab contributions to observational and astronomical instruments.
The seminar was delivered by Prof. Fathy Saleh, Founder of the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage; Dr. Osama Fathi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Society for Astronomy; Dr. Samia Hassan, Head of the Training and Human Resources Development Unit at the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo; Ms. Heba Abdellah, Exhibits Director at the Museum of Islamic Art; and Dr. Rehab El-Saidi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University.
