As part of a new initiative aimed at offering unique, tailor-made visits to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, Director of the Library, welcomed a high-profile delegation of American tourists. Their visit began with a special presentation delivered by Dr. Zayed, in the presence of the Library’s senior staff.
Dr. Zayed welcomed the delegation and delivered a lecture covering the history of the city of Alexandria since its founding by Alexander the Great, tracing its development through the ages to become one of the most important historical cities of global significance. He noted that Alexandria was not merely a coastal city but an exceptional cultural hub that embraced different cultures and civilizations, which rendered it a unique model of coexistence and diversity.
Following the lecture, the 54-member delegation toured the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to learn about its various departments and the services it provides to the public and researchers.
