Conclusion of the “Franco-Egyptian” Student Competition at the BA

The BA Young People’s Library concluded its “Franco-Egyptian” student competition, which was held this year under the theme “Egypt through the Eyes of Youth,” in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, the French Language Department at the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University, and the Institut Français d'Égypte à Alexandrie.

The competition focuses on reviving Egyptian heritage; each participating school selected one of Egypt’s governorates to present, in French, the features of its identity—including customs, traditions, popular cuisine, and the most prominent tourist and archaeological landmarks. The presentation was not limited to the informational aspect alone as it included the submission of a creative artwork embodying the spirit of the chosen governorate.

The competition aims to develop students’ scientific, cultural, and personal skills, and seeks to help them improve and master the French language by integrating it into educational, artistic, and interactive activities. It also introduces young people to Egypt’s major cities that are rich in traditions and customs, and help them explore the archaeological, historical, and industrial landmarks for which each city is famous, while supporting and developing the creative skills of preparatory and secondary school students.

The closing ceremony featured a showcase of the results of a four-month creative journey that started on 8 December 2025, in which 65 students from thirteen schools participated.
