The Bibliotheca Alexandrina has held a seminar titled “Alexandria… A Museum of Civilizations” to celebrate International Museum Day. The event was organized by the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med), the Antiquities Museum, and the Art Exhibitions and Collections Department, in collaboration with the Regional Authority for Tourism Promotion. It witnessed the participation of Dr. Mohamed Soliman, Acting Deputy Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Dr. Marwa El-Wakil, Head of the Library’s Academic Research Sector; and Dr. Eman Sharaf, Head of the Regional Authority for Tourism Promotion.
The event featured a heritage exhibition held in the Hall of Fame at the Library’s main entrance, showcasing a diverse collection of photographs and prints, as well as medals and decorations that document the rich history of the city of Alexandria.
The program also included a screening of the promotional film The Story of Alexandria through the Ages, as well as the film Royal Treasures, which explores the history of the Royal Jewelry Museum. The screenings were followed by two specialized lectures; the first took attendees on an informative tour of Alexandria’s museums, while the second examined the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in preserving cultural heritage and supporting tourism development.
The event concluded with a special participation of a number of social media influencers, who highlighted the city’s landmarks and its cultural and historical heritage.
