The BA and ICESCO Discuss Launching Joint Projects for Heritage Preservation

Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, discussed with Dr. Salim bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), during the former's recent visit to the organization’s headquarters in Rabat, ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the fields of publishing, the preservation of Islamic and human heritage, the conservation and restoration of manuscripts, and the development of cultural and knowledge-based projects.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Nihad Abdel-Latif, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The meeting discussed the possibility of launching a joint project to revive Islamic and human heritage through the restoration of manuscripts and rare books, as well as the translation of historical, intellectual, and Islamic publications into several languages. A proposal was also presented to launch a joint reading award aimed at promoting a culture of knowledge and reading among young people.
