The BA Antiquities Museum organized a seminar titled “Tourism and Antiquities: Rediscovering the Homeland and Building the Future” on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. The event was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the BA, and was part of the “Alexandria Dialogues” series.

The seminar featured a distinguished panel of professors and specialists in the fields of tourism, archaeology, and cultural heritage. They included Prof. Gamal Abdel Rahim, Professor of Islamic Archaeology and Arts at Cairo University, who delivered a lecture titled “The History and Archaeology of Alexandria’s Squares in the Islamic Period,” and Prof. Khaled Gharib, Professor of Egyptian Archaeology in the Greek and Roman Periods at Cairo University, who delivered a lecture titled “The Grand Egyptian Museum: A New Touristic Horizon.”

The seminar also witnessed the participation of Prof. Sobhy Ashour, Professor of Greco-Roman Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts, Capital University, who delivered a lecture titled “Greek and Roman Antiquities and the Future of Tourism in Egypt.” These lectures highlighted the importance of cultural heritage in strengthening national identity and supporting sustainable development.

It is worth noting that “Alexandria Dialogues” is a series of sessions launched several years ago by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, aimed at promoting open dialogue among intellectuals, decision-makers, and the public through discussions of political, economic, social, and cultural issues.
