The BA Francophone Activities Center, in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts’ French Department, is organizing the Egyptian Professions Festival on the occasion of the release of the French translation of I’ve Seen Those Things by Saad el-Saadawy, which has been translated by Dr. Nevine Khaled and Dr. Lana Habib; professors at the French Department of the Faculty of Arts at the Alexandria University.

The book talks about 23 original Egyptian professions, some of which have disappeared and some of which are still trying to survive in an age where technology provides mechanical equipment and electric tools, etc.

The three-day celebration will include an embodiment of the content of the book through a presentation given by professionals of the aforementioned professions, while adding a number of other Egyptian professions that have not been mentioned in the book. A number of workshops will be held alongside the celebration in addition to a series of artistic shows that demonstrate the original Egyptian culture.

The celebration will be held in cooperation with the BA Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center and the Art Center, and is sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism, Fair Trade Egypt, The French Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, Al Ahram Hebdo, and Le Passage.
