The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Antiquities Museum is organizing a lecture entitled “The Religious Significance of Calves’ Representations in Some Chapters of the Book of the Dead”. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 27 March 2018, at 12:00 noon, in the 3rd Floor Floating Room (F3). The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, Associate Professor of Ancient Egyptian Archaeology, the Tourism Guidance Department, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Alexandria University. The lecturer will tackle the funerary texts of Ancient Egypt, which have given insight into the religious beliefs that dominated the minds of Ancient Egyptians. In these texts, the calf came to manifest different aspects, which are purely religious, and that show how far the Egyptians’ imagination went when dealing with the calf in mythology. Moreover, the study of the vignettes of the Book of the Dead in which the calf was represented reveals aspects of the Ancient Egyptians’ religious beliefs.
