An International Campaign for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA)

Alexandria — the BA Media Department – managed by Dr. Khaled Azab-is organizing an international and Arab campaign for the BA. The campaign aims at increasing the number of the BA visitors from one million annually to three million and shedding light on the quantity and quality of scientific and cultural services offered by the BA through its multi-lingual collections. The campaign also seeks to enrich the BA with books and periodicals tackling different cultural, artistic, and scientific fields, and upgrading digital and electronic technology serving the BA visitors from Arab and foreign intellectuals to Arab and foreign scholars. The campaign is a part of a tourist strategy to promote for the city of Alexandria.

The campaign produced a film on the BA in cooperation with the UNESCO and sent it to TV channels of different countries, such as Jordon, UAE, France, Norway, Canada, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Bahrain, South Africa, as well as several media institutions and organizations. Within the same framework and in addition to the Arabic newsletter issued by the BA Media Department, the Media Department is preparing an English newsletter to promote for the BA internationally. The BA hosted several international TV channels, which aired the image of civilization radiated by the BA to all parts of the world.
