The Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) unveils three new Books By Abdel Rahman Badawi

Alexandria — Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the BA, stated that the BA is unveiling three new books by the late writer and philosopher Dr. Abdel Rahman Badawi two of which are on the ancient Library of Alexandria; the first, 55 pages, written in French in 1986 are a historical study of the history of the ancient Library of Alexandria and its scientific role at that time. The study also includes Dr. Badawi’s vision for the revival of the ancient Library of Alexandria. The second book on the Museion (Muses) or the Museum of the Library of Alexandria is also in French, where Dr. Badawi compares the ancient Library to Oxford and Cambridge Universities nowadays. In this book, Dr. Badawi, listed the history of scholars in the Museion. The third book is entitled The Tragedy of Euripides, a translation of the complete works of the ancient Greek poet Euripides. Dr. Badawi started the translation of Euripides" works (18 plays) in 1996 with the aim to enrich the Arabic culture with the European literary works.

Dr. Youssef Zeidan, Director of Manuscripts Center stated that the BA will hold a seminar to present those books next Thursday. The library of Dr. Badawi donated to the BA amounts to 12,606 books, 17 manuscripts, and 18 microfilms, the total of his books in Egypt and France.
