Summer Scientific Activities at the Planetarium Science Center (PSC)

Alexandria — the Bibliotheca Alexandrina PSC is an interactive knowledge facility in different fields of science, especially physics and astronomy. In this context, the scientific program of the PSC during the summer includes lectures and workshops targeting students and youth from different age groups. The center is organizing interesting activities to the BA visitors entitled Presentation of Science Wonders during the period from 3 July till 6 September. The activities include experiments in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, using different tools such as balloons, bottles, balls, water, and physical effort.

The summer program comprises different workshops including Make Your Own Electronic Board from 9-13 July, showing the participants how to make the metal board used in different electric devices with simple materials and some chemical materials, in addition to some experiments on dough and dyes.

Energy Workshop presenting some experiments where students interact with renewable and non-renewable energy, use different sources of energy, learn how to transfer energy and preserve it from 28 June until 3 July 2006. During the period from 16-20 July 2006, the center will hold a workshop entitled Discover with Science, where students find out the scientific facts of their daily life from the moment they wake up until they sleep, including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A workshop on Density includes simple experiments explaining density and its impact in our daily life. From 23-27 July, a workshop on Agriculture comprises experiments on different parts of plants, the structure of plant cell, information on trees, in addition to different types of soil, and much more on the green world.
