Alexandria — the BA will sign on Monday, 17 July 2006 a cultural cooperation agreement between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) and Pangea Foundation, an international cultural organization. The agreement aims at developing arts, science, education, and culture through encouraging cultural exchange and better understanding between peoples and civilizations.

The BA is a world wide center of science, knowledge and culture that aims to disseminate understanding and dialogue between peoples and civilizations. The new Library of Alexandria was built to revive the legend of the ancient Library, as the new Library seeks to promote arts and sciences that would enrich humanity.

The Pangea Foundation is an international cultural organization- in taking the name Pangea ¬– wants to stand out in one image the unity of all lands, and hopes for a future where all nations would unite in one. The organization carried out several cultural activities reflecting its objectives including a series of documentaries entitled Beacons of Humanity. The documentary- through studying the re-told events in relationship to their contemporary environment, as well as the past and also their effect on the future- enables us to see the progress of knowledge as a result of many different people’s efforts throughout history in different parts of the world.

It is worth mentioning that the agreement is one in a series of agreements between the BA and several scientific and cultural centers in the world, a matter that would promote dialogue and understanding between different civilizations.
