Increasing International and Arabic Participation at the Alexandrina International Book Fair

Alexandria— Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, Eng. Ibrahim El-Moalem, President of the Arab Publishers Union, and General Adel Labib, Governor of Alexandria will open the Alexandrina International Book Fair on 22 February 2007. Dr. Serageldin extended a special invitation to HE Farouk Hosny, Minister of Culture to attend the opening of the Fair along with other dignitaries.
The Fair this year will host the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Literature in Kuwait as a guest of honor in recognition of the cooperation between the Council and the Library in different projects. For the first time, King Faisal Center for Islamic Civilization Studies and Research in Saudi Arabia, Kind Abdul-Aziz Library, and the Syrian and Cyprus Ministries of Culture will participate in the Fair.
The Fair this year is distinguished by the increasing participation of Arab and Egyptian publishers. On the other hand, coordination efforts are underway between the different sectors of the Ministry of Culture and the library to post different publications of the ministry in the fair. The General Egyptian Book Organization will participate in the Fair with a 150 meters pavilion featuring the publications of the Organization and the Reading for All Festival. The Cultural Development Fund will present the publications of the National Project for Translation in the Fair.
