Alexandria— The BA Calligraphy Center will organize on Sunday, 3 June 2007, an exhibition entitled "Rhythm and Verses… Masterpieces of Persian Calligraphy", in cooperation with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM).

The BA is the third station to host "Rhythm and Verses" Exhibition following the exhibition's journey to Singapore in 2004 and Malaysia in 2005. The unique collection was deeply welcomed and admired in the two previous stops.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Deputy Director, BA Calligraphy Center, stated that the Exhibition displays the brilliance of Persian single folios. These works from the 16th to the 19th century are among the finest achievements of Islamic civilization, and yet have received little attention from scholars or publishers. He added that, accompanying the exhibition, the Arabic version of the Exhibition catalogue will be launched examining more than just the beauty of these calligraphic masterpieces in the collection of the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia. The catalogue features 108 manuscripts illustrating the aesthetic elements in the calligraphic masterpieces very similar to rhythm.

It is worth mentioning that the BA is holding a special ceremony for this unique Exhibition, attended by His Honorable Datuk Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, the Minister of Art Culture and Heritage in Malaysia, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ab Kadir, Malaysian Ambassador to Cairo, and Dato' Ismail Yusof, the Vice Executive Chairman (VEC) of the Albukhary Foundation from the Malaysian side. Both Dr. Yehia Halim Zaki, Head of the BA Cultural and Academic Sector, and Dr. Khaled Azab will represent the Library's side in the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony will start at 17:30 hrs. at the Lectures Hall, BA Conference Center.
