Education in Malaysia in a Lecture at the BA

The BA will organize on Tuesday, 7 August 2007, a lecture entitled "Education in Malaysia" by Dr. Salah Soliman, Professor of Pesticide Chemistry and Toxicology, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University.
The lecture will tackle education in Malaysia and how it prepares citizens in a dynamic, productive, humanitarian manner to face the challenges of the new age. The educational system in Malaysia seeks to prepare individuals mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically on the basis of belief in Allah and obeying Him. The educational curricula provides students with knowledge and skills to enable them to shoulder the responsibly of national development and to achieve new industrial pattern for the unity and prosperity of families, society, and nation at large.
The lecture also refers to the importance of human capital, which is the backbone of development. Malaysia succeeded in developing a sound educational system to meet the country's needs of skillful labor force. The system participated effectively in the economic transformation from traditional agricultural sector to modern industrial one.
The strategy of education in Malaysia is based on free basic education, importance of preschool education, focusing primary education on basic knowledge and national conceptions, directing secondary education towards national goals, giving special attention to the establishment of teachers training institutes and industrial training, compliance with technological and technical development, formulating university education to serve economics, linking between education and research activities, openness on developed educational systems, and improving women education.
The lecture will start at 17:00 hrs. at the Multipurpose Hall, BA Conference Center.
