Senior Indian Delegation to Examine Ways of Cultural Cooperation with the BA

Alexandria— The BA will receive on Tuesday, 18 September 2007, an Indian delegation of Mr. Badal K. Das, Assistant Minister for Culture, Mrs. Shailja Chandra, Chairman of Delhi Library Board, New Delhi, Mrs. Alka Jha, Director of Ministry of Culture and Dr. K.K Banerjee, Director of Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata.

This visit is within the framework of the visit of the Indian delegation to Egypt, during the period from 15 to 19 September 2007, where the delegation wishes to discuss ways to support and deepen cultural ties between India and Egypt and aspires, in particular, to visit the library and discuss ways to increase cooperation between the BA and its counterpart institutions in India.

The delegation is scheduled to meet the leaders of the Library including Ambassador Hagar Islambouly, Head of the BA External Relations Sector, Dr. Sherif Riad, Director of the BA Public Relations Department. The delegation will take a tour of the Library, its affiliated exhibitions and museums, and different services offered by the BA to members and visitors. The tour will include the Manuscripts Museum, the Digital Lab, the Internet Archive, VISTA, the Planetarium Science Center, and the Alexploratorium.
