Dr. Bassem added that the award is a gold plated pyramid of a high artistic value made of bronze and copper on an acrylic base, with an olive branch, as a symbol of leadership. The pyramid weighs about 800 grams, and is designed by artist Dr. Sherine Khairy.

It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Council of Pro- Peace Physicians is a non-governmental organization serving humanitarian and relief issues. Since 2004, the Council has been offering three annual awards in peace, scientific leadership, and women.
