Hieroglyphic Courses for the Non-Specialized at the BA

Posted on

Alexandria— The Ancient Egyptian Unit, BA Calligraphy Center is organizing level 2 of the Hieroglyphic non-specialized Courses at the end of June 2008.

Dr. Khaled Azab, Deputy Director, BA Calligraphy Center, stated that these courses reflect the BA’s belief that the ancient Egyptian language is inevitable for understanding the ancient Egyptian civilization and pointed out that these courses were designed to help people understand the ancient Egyptian civilization and learn the basics of the Ancient Egyptian language, through studying simple sentences and grammar rules.

The Hieroglyphic Level 1 Course finished end of last April, and was greatly praised by the attendees. The Center will organize the second level in June, in which attendees will be taught some hieroglyphic texts and sentences, and will also apply what they are taught by visiting the BA Antiquities Museum.

The Calligraphy Center is one of the research centers affiliated to the BA. It studies inscriptions, calligraphies and writings in the world throughout the ages, from the pre-dynastic period up to the digital age.
